At Scottsdale Dental Excellence we are dedicated to providing aesthetic tooth colored restorations and we have been amalgam free for over 20 years! Tooth colored restorations come in different materials and have different characteristics and are used for specific areas of the mouth.
Are your teeth broken, chipped, or cracked? These and other minor cosmetic dental flaws can easily repaired with tooth colored resin filling material. With cosmetic “bonding” you can repair these and other types of flaws in just one comfortable visit to our dental office. Cosmetic bonding is a simple, quick cosmetic dental treatment where we can apply composite resin to the damaged or flawed tooth. Composite resin is a soft, putty-like material that is matched to the natural shade of your teeth. This ensures that your results are natural looking and aesthetic. Dr. Jeffrey D. Clark carefully shapes and sculpts the resin to fit and enhance your tooth. The resin is then cured (or hardened) with a special light. After polishing the tooth, your treatment is complete! In most cases, cosmetic bonding can be completed in just one short visit to our dental office. Because cosmetic bonding involves little to no tooth preparation, the treatment is entirely pain-free and pleasant. For more information on how we can improve the appearance of your smile through cosmetic bonding, we welcome you to contact us at Scottsdale Dental Excellence soon.
If your tooth is damaged or decayed we are likely to recommend a dental filling. In the past, fillings were created from amalgam (a mixture of metals) along with mercury, resulting in a dark silver restoration that disrupted your all-white smile. Thanks to modern natural looking composite and resin filling materials, we can aesthetically restore a damaged tooth, increasing its strength and longevity. Tooth-colored fillings can replace old existing amalgam fillings that are showing signs of wear or breakdown. Dr Jeffrey Clark believes it is critical to isolate the tooth that needs replacement with a rubber dam in order to capture any remnants along with high volume suction which prevents any material from escaping into your mouth and into your body.
Inlays and Onlays
If a tooth sustains damage that is too extensive for a dental filling yet does not require a dental crown, Dr Jeffrey Clark may recommend a dental Inlay or Onlay. Dental Inlays and Onlays are more conservative than crowns, and they allow us to preserve more of your natural tooth structure and are designed to fit perfectly in the space where damage and decay are removed, restoring your tooth to its optimal function, shape, and health. We are pleased to utilize CEREC technology to create your dental Inlays and Onlays in Scottsdale, Arizona in just one visit to our office. With our CEREC system we can create your custom , computer-designed restoration from porcelain for a natural-looking, high strength, durable solution.
Both inlays and onlays are used to restore a damaged or decayed tooth. Inlays fit between the cusps of the tooth, while an onlay fits over the cusps. Dental onlays are typically used if the damage is more extensive and are usually placed in the posterior teeth. The dental inlay or onlay is bonded to the natural tooth structure to restore its strength and beauty.
